Blind Eye Restoration was contracted by the Bexley Public Library to consult on the continuing problem of the corrosion of their original bronze entrance. Previous work had been done of refinishing the door and applying a brass lacquer on the metal to keep a bright brass finish. Without regular reapplication the lacquer visibly wore away on the lower half of the door due to weather exposure in a matter of two years and salt from winter sidewalk cleanup had combined to speed up the corrosion process. Blind Eye encouraged the library to remove the lacquer, allowing the door to patina naturally with periodic cleaning and wax to protect the metal from heavy salt corrosion and weathering. The library then contracted with the Blind Eye team to strip the lacquer from the door to begin the natural patina process.
