City of Kettering Public Art Restoration

Blind Eye Restoration was hired by the City of Kettering, Ohio to assess and clean their collection of limestone sculptures created during their international stone symposium in 2002 at Delco Park, as well as the Schantz Ave bridge and their 9/11 monument. 

The majority of the work was specifically the cleaning of environmental staining and biological growth from the limestone sculptures. The Schantz Ave Bridge was a different scope, where the Corten Steel material of the bridge screen had been continuously shedding and bleeding over the sidewalks, leaving long stains. We were able to clean the sidewalks and the bridge screen, and followed up with product testing and reported our findings for biodegradable coatings that would stop or slow down the continuous rust bleeding without altering the appearance of the weathering steel.
