IHS Mural Restoration

Blind Eye Restoration was hired by the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland to complete a series of restoration and conservation projects for St. Sebastian Parish of Akron, Ohio. 

The IHS mural is located over the high altar, and had not been professionally cleaned in over 60 years. Located 40 feet up on the ceiling, the mural had accumulated a layer of smoke residue and had minor damages sustained from previous church wall painting projects and lighting. Blind Eye thoroughly cleaned the canvas painting of all residue, careful to leave the pencil lines of the original painter's sketch visible behind the details, and filled in flaking and missing scraped areas of the painting.
