In the state of Ohio, currently only commercial properties can take advantage ofhistoric preservation tax credits. But we found another option to get tax credits for old home owners!
Pre-2023, Blind Eye Restoration was already an RRP licensed contracting company , meaning we followed lead safety practices on site and in our shop. But more and more we were running into cases where clients needed licensed abatement work done to fully rid themselves of lead and asbestos on their property and were worried about losing their building's historic elements.
Because of our work we already knew that the protections for lead and asbestos dangers was largely the same. When a project came along in 2023 that required us to have asbestos abatement licensing, it really just helped us improve our everyday protocol. But it wasn't until the end of 2023 that we learned about the available tax credits Ohio had been offering since 2020 for residential lead abatement work. The plan to get licensed for lead abatement as well just felt right.
Luckily, because the Lead Safe Ohio Program was signed into law in Jan 2023, there is a lot of support in the state right now to get additional lead abatement training, and we were able to get our crew fully lead abatement trained in early 2024, and licensed by mid summer. Now we have a few projects under out belt and are happy to open it up as an option for more clients.
